This newsletter is dedicated to keeping tabs on Rep. John McGuire, who represents Virginia's 5th Congressional District in the House of Representatives.
I write about Rep. McGuire's votes and their effects on the people of VA-5. I also fact-check his public statements and point out when they conflict with the values he's talked about in public.
For the time being, I do my reporting solely from home, but I hope eventually to get out and actually talk to people.
I'm a centrist Democrat and resident of VA-5. I’m doing this because I think our democracy is sliding toward competitive autocracy, and I hope to do my part to slow the slide a little by putting a spotlight on my congressman. I don’t follow Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner as closely, because I generally think they’re on the right side of things. But I’ll post about them if so moved.
I'm staying anonymous for all the legit reasons people stay anonymous online these days—to avoid getting doxxed. You know how it is these days.
Fwiw, I just posted a link to The Night Watchman on my Facebook timeline, as well as to another group of local activists with whom I'm working.
I hope you franchise and get Night Watchmen for the rest of the right wing Congressfools in VA, and maybe when the Dems, to keep them on track.
