Bonkers screencaps from whitehouse.gov
Also, possible evidence that McGuire really is beatable.
I saw these on Reddit the other day, and they’re so nuts that I had to go see for myself. They’re real, and they’re not spectacular.
The official history of the White House at whitehouse.gov has a few benign historial photos documenting the addition of the East Wing, the addition of the Briefing Room, etc. Then there’s a string of increasingly bizarre entries, including this one:
Along with:

I asked ChatGPT to assess the “Biden” screencap. Its response: “The screenshot appears to be from a webpage styled to look like whitehouse.gov, but the layout and content strongly suggest it is not an authentic White House page—the real White House site does not publish partisan or speculative content like the text shown.” Well bless your heart, GPT.
Granted, defacing whitehouse.gov is quite literally the least of the Trump administration’s wrongs. I’ll be back to cataloguing the serious shit in my next column.
In case you missed the news, former VA-05 congressman Tom Perriello announced he’s running again. At least one candidate has already dropped out since then, though Albemarle supervisor Mike Pruitt says he’s staying in. Maybe this means that the pollsters and money folks are seeing serious evidence that McGuire is beatable, though I remain skeptical (but hopeful). Of course, the odds will flip entirely if the state redraws the congressional map in time for next year’s elections.
